Thank you so much in advance for your help. If any of you know what I can do to try and get this to work please let me know. The vm errored saying: E: Unable to locate package linux-headers-4.6.0-kali-amd64Į: Couldn't find any package by glob 'linux-headers-4.6.0-kali-amd64'Į: Couldn't find any package by regex 'linux-headers-4.6.0-kali-amd64' Mount the Oracle VM VirtualBox Guest Additions. Reboot your computer into BIOS and enable hardware virtualization. Unattended Installation Log in as Administrator on the guest. The commands below it worked until the apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r) command. Download and install the latest VirtualBox Guest Additions, the download link is located on the downloads page. I followed the comment talking about editing /etc/apt/sources.list. My final method came from SuperUser as found here. I tried doing those two methods twice, each with a brand new VM. After installing the software, you need to restart the virtual machine. To install Guest Additions, you need to make sure that your host OS is up to date, and you have sudo privileges. Accept all the default settings and then click Install to install the Guest Additions. However, upon reboot the seamless mode and auto-resize guest option for my vm were still greyed out. If you can’t install Guest Additions in your VirtualBox VM, it might be because you haven’t installed the software on your host operating system. Access the VBox guest additions iso from the top bar under devices and install, the first time it will give an error saying that it could not find the disk. Click the Next button to move though the various steps of the wizard. Those commands worked fine and things were installed. I then tried the official way on the kali docs found here. I was able to see the disk on the desktop of the vm but when I tried to launch the software inside it errored with the message: Cannot find program. The first method was inserting the guest cd under the devices menu for my VM. I have tried several different methods for installing the guest additions. In addition, I have been using Kali Linux version 2016.2 for a 64 bit OS. A pop-up window for creating a new VM appears. Launch VirtualBox Manager and click the New icon. iso image, create a new virtual machine and import Kali as its OS. So, I have been trying to install the virtualbox guest additions onto my Kali Linux VM for the past couple of days now and I am at a loss for why it’s not working.įor starters, the host machine is running Windows 10. Step 2: Create Kali Linux VirtualBox Container.
